About
Perrywinkle

One firm, built on purpose

Running a business is hard enough without feeling confused by your finances.

Most owners we meet are making significant decisions on financial information that is incomplete, out of date, or never properly explained to them. Bookkeeping gets treated as a filing obligation rather than the operational tool it should be.

Perrywinkle Accounting was built to change that: books that close on schedule, work that gets reviewed before it reaches you, and a CPA who has been reading your numbers all year rather than once at filing time.

Accuracy is the start, Action is the goal

FOUNDER AND OWNER

Tegan is a North Carolina licensed CPA with more than a decade in public accounting. She began as a tax intern at Gerald O. Dry, PA in Concord, spent six years as a staff accountant at Crawley Lee & Company, then held senior staff accountant roles at Sterling Tax & Accounting and at Worley, Woodbery & Associates in Asheville.

She holds a Master of Accountancy from Western Carolina University and a BS in Accounting and BSBA in Finance from the University of North Carolina, and is a member of the NCACPA and the AICPA.

She founded Perrywinkle Accounting in [2021 or 2023] to build the kind of practice she had wanted to work in: focused, one on one, where accuracy and consistency matter more than volume.

Tegan reviews every close before it reaches a client, and signs the returns for the businesses whose books her team keeps. There is no second firm, and no handoff.

Tom is usually the first person you will speak with. Twenty years in software and data and four years in hospitality management mean he understands both the systems that generate your numbers and the pressure of running the business behind them. He is also an aspiring blacksmith.

Britney keeps the day-to-day bookkeeping and the firm's administrative work running, which means she is often the one making sure nothing stalls between a question and an answer. Outside work she makes hats and stained glass

BOOKKEEPING

Jesse is an independent author who covers bookkeeping during the firm's busiest stretches. He is also Tegan's brother, which makes him the only person here who remembers what Perrywinkle was like before it had clients.

Rooted in Lake Lure.

Working everywhere.

We're based in Lake Lure, North Carolina. Here before Hurricane Helene, here after. Most of our work happens remotely and we’re built for it. Our secure document exchange, recorded walkthroughs, and flexible schedule support US companies everywhere. For neighbors across Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina, we're close enough to meet at your table when a conversation calls for it.

Why the “y” in Perrywinkle?

I am often asked where I came up with the name for my business. Ultimately, it is the biggest “thank you” to my Dad for providing me with a wonderful education and work ethic. In Bermuda (where he is from) it is tradition for friends to pick out a nickname. Growing up, his last name was “Perry” and you can’t go to the beach without seeing hundreds of periwinkle’s attached to the rocks - and thus, his friends chose his nickname!

I am also fascinated by the Fibonacci sequence, which is a pattern found in nature, seen in the spirals of seashells to the arrangement of leaves. Each number in the sequence builds on the one before it, creating a harmonious progression. For me, this natural rhythm is more than just a beautiful pattern—it’s a reminder of how steady growth and balanced steps lead to lasting success.
